The Battery Research and Innovation Hub, managed by the Deakin Institute for Frontier Materials, provides world-class equipment for advanced battery prototyping and the commercialisation of energy storage technologies. The hub includes a research laboratory for new battery design and development, prototyping and a cell and systems test facility for multiple battery types and sizes.
Carbon Nexus at Deakin Institute for Frontier Materials is the world’s largest open access carbon fibre pilot line. This world-class research and manufacturing facility is on Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus and delivers globally significant, industrial-scale research to support the growth of a new generation of carbon fibre products and technologies.

Situated on Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus, the facility houses the only cotton processing and spinning line in Australia, among an array of other textile processing equipment. Capabilities include short staple spinning for natural fibre yarn creation, knitting, weaving and non-woven equipment for fabric manufacture.
